This morning I had a fantastic opportunity to be a guest speaker on a podcast with with Roxy Bond, a social media guru in the Wedding Industry.
The aim of that podcast was to help wedding industry supplier gain some focus and get ready their businesses ready for when the industry reopens in earnest.
But in doing the podcast, I realised there are lessons for ALL of us, as business owners.
You see, even those businesses who have not been shut will have been affected in one way or another, so I thought in my email today I would share my 5 Steps to ensuring your Business will grow in 2021 and beyond.
STEP 1- Realise what’s going on:
This recession has not hit everyone. In fact there is apparently over £16 billion of savings in UK accounts right now… just waiting to be spent. So as things open up it is YOUR responsibility as the business owner to ensure that you have done everything you need to be in the eyeline of your prospects and customers, ready to do business with them Because when bad things happen, most people feel bad as well. But as a Professional Business Owner, it is down to you to work out how you are going to deal with what has happened and even more importantly be prepared for what is coming.
Step 2 – Get Stuff Done
It is time to start INVESTING your time instead of spending it! Getting stuff done is by far the best way to affect your future.
You need to be putting time aside EVERY day to focus ON your business instead of IN it. So don’t get bogged down in the nitty gritty, ‘in the weeds’; instead find time to work on your marketing, so that your prospects can see you, can start to like you and will eventually know and trust you.
That would be time well invested.
Step 3 – Reignite Old Leads
I have said it before but using the three line email or text can literally turn on your cash tap.. I had one client who sent out the ‘three line email’ last month to all last years leads and had 45 responses back within two hours, many of which went on to book appointments with her. You could try it too… just send a text or email saying asking if your lead is still looking for whatever it is you sell/offer and say you would like to help them… sign it off and see what happens.
And if you choose not to do that, well as I say that’s down to you. But then that’s the case for this whole recovery from lockdown.
Step 4 – Get New Customers – Get Noticed.
If you have been reading my emails for a while, you should know that it is really important to know who your prospective customers are and where they are hanging out. And that is where you need to be too.
So if that’s Facebook, you need to get on FB, if it is LinkedIn then make sure you are there… and make sure what you are doing meets the EMV test… Your message needs to be Emotional, Memorable or Valuable. If it isn’t they will simply scroll past!
And even better is to make your message be through video. It really is the new normal – so love it or hate it, you need to embrace it!It doesn’t need to be perfect, but it does need to be out there.
Step 5 – Get More Profit
The last step we discussed in my podcast, was to make sure you get the profit you deserve. Have you actually worked out what your average customer order is? And if so, is it enough? If not maybe you need a rethink.
Maybe you could restructure your prices so that new customers buy into one of three packages – make the cheapest one a price you are happy with then add value and cost to higher ones… nearly everyone will take the middle option so you’ll be quids in!
And once you have done that you can increase your profit by converting better and to convert better you need to follow up more. Not just once or twice (some businesses don’t even do that) but several times, consistently, adding value, creating plans, giving advice. Build that Know, Like Trust with your prospects. Because ultimately then they will buy into you and Your Business and that will have a direct influence on your profits.
So, get those 5 steps in place in Your Business and I guarantee you will see a difference, now and definitely in the future as the economy kicks back into action.
